Oils on Point - Releasing Emotional Patterns through essential oils
Thorough training from Dr. Carolyn Mein, Author, speaker, expert in nutrition and health. These sessions use three Books as references to find the underlying "emotion," the oil(s) to be used, and the points on the body in which to apply the oils as you use a script for the "release" of the negative around that emotion.
Clinical research shows that traumatic experiences are stored on a cellular level and have profound effects on one’s emotions and the physical state of the body.
The Emotional Release Technique uses essential oil formulas created for their unique ability to:
• Balance energies in the body and open the subconscious mind.
• Promote emotional release of negative stored memories.
• Program the mind with positive beliefs. It seems incredible to think that something like an essential oil can have an impact on our mental and emotional wellbeing.
Essential oils are able to penetrate through the olfactory sense (sense of smell) to the limbic part of the brain – the emotional center of the human brain.
They also penetrate to the hippocampus, which is associated with the storage of working memory and short-term memory, and the pineal gland, which is often associated with spiritual development. How Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils Affect the Brain The blood-brain barrier is the barrier membrane between the circulating blood and the brain that prevents certain damaging substances from reaching brain tissue and cerebrospinal fluid. The American Medical Association determined that if they could find an agent that would pass the blood-brain barrier, they would be able to cure Alzheimer’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. In June of 1994, it was documented by the Medical University of Berlin, Germany and Vienna, Austria, that sesquiterpenes have the ability to go beyond the blood-brain barrier. High levels of sesquiterpenes, found in the essential oils of frankincense and sandalwood, help increase the amount of oxygen in the limbic system of the brain, particularly around the pineal and pituitary glands. This leads to an increase in secretions of antibodies, endorphins and neurotransmitters. Also present in the limbic system of the brain is a gland called the amygdala. In 1989, it was discovered that the amygdala plays an important role in the storing and releasing of emotional trauma. The only way to stimulate this gland is with fragrance or the sense of smell. Therefore, with aromatherapy and essential oils we are now able to release emotional trauma.
How Essential Oils Work with Our Emotions Certain essential oils work by calming the central nervous system and helping us to relax, instead of allowing the build-up of anxiety in the body. What most people don’t know is that anxiety creates an acidic condition in the body. This activates an enzyme which results in that anxiety being stored in our DNA. Essential oils support the body in minimizing this reaction. Essential oils can also help in the release of old emotional traumas. In 1989, Dr. Joseph Ledoux from NY Medical University discovered that the amygdala (in the limbic center of the brain) plays a role in the storage and release of emotional traumas. He also suggested that aromas could trigger an emotional release. In addition, essential oils carry molecules known as sesquiterpenes, which are capable of penetrating the blood-brain barrier. These molecules have a significant oxygenating effect on the brain. The combination of oxygenation on the brain and the stimulation from aromatic molecules appears to assist the amygdala in facilitating the release of emotional blockages. Essential oils can help to effect emotions trapped within various organs and tissues of the body. Essential oils also have an effect on the human energy field, helping to balance and raise our frequencies. Via the olfactory bulb, the aroma is sent directly to the center of the brain, to the limbic system where it is processed and releases neurochemicals that can be relaxing, stimulating, sedative etc., depending on the essential oil being used.
